CD Projekt Red has set August 25 as the date fans will get their first real look at Songs of the Past, the surprise new expansion for 2015's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The reveal will happen during Gamescom's Opening Night Live, hosted by Geoff Keighley, with the showcase airing at 11am PT / 2pm ET / 8pm CEST. Announced back in May, Songs of the Past is being co-developed with Fool's Theory — the studio also handling CDPR's remake of the first Witcher game — and is expected to land in scope somewhere close to Blood and Wine, the acclaimed expansion for Witcher 3's base game. Speaking to investors in May, CDPR co-CEO Michał Nowakowski described it as "a proper big expansion," while cautioning that its size will depend on how players approach it. Originally eyed for a 2026 release, the expansion has since been pushed to 2027, though Nowakowski hinted CDPR still has smaller, unnamed Witcher 3 content in an advanced stage of production for release sometime this year. For now, all eyes are on Gamescom for the first substantial look at what's coming.
