Developed by former Burnout and Criterion veterans at Fuse Games, Star Wars: Galactic Racer blends blisteringly fast sci-fi motorsport, vehicle building, and roguelite campaign progression. More than two decades after Star Wars Episode I: Racer defined high-speed sci-fi competition on consoles and PC, Lucasfilm Games and publisher Secret Mode are preparing to bring motorsport back to a galaxy far, far away. Developed by Fuse Games—a studio composed of former Criterion and Burnout series veterans—Star Wars: Galactic Racer is positioning itself as a fast, physical, and tactical reinvention of arcade racing. Underground Circuits in the New Republic Era Set during the New Republic Era in the aftermath of Return of the Jedi, Galactic Racer explores the lawless fringes of the Outer Rim. In the power vacuum left behind by the fallen Empire, former military pilots, syndicates, and grease monkeys channel leftover scrap into the Galactic League—an unsanctioned, high-stakes underground racing circuit founded by Darius Pax. Players take on the role of Shade, a mysterious masked racer paired with energetic Ardennian mechanic Hibi. Shade enters the circuit aiming to settle a personal grudge and topple corrupt reigning champion Kestar Bool, engaging in a character-focused sports drama backed by dynamic cinematic rivals. Burnout-Style Takedowns and Roguelite Progression Early gameplay details and hands-on impressions highlight high-adrenaline arcade handling paired with vehicular aggression. Vehicles reach breakneck speeds as players jostle for position, force rivals into hazards, and navigate drastic vertical drops and twisting planetary tracks. The campaign introduces a run-based roguelite structure: Branching Event Maps: Drivers chart paths across league tournaments to earn upgrade scrap, League Tokens, and specialized perks. High Stakes Permadeath Risk: Sustaining too much damage or repeatedly crashing out can prematurely end a tournament run, requiring tactical risk assessment. Deep Scrap Customization: Players craft, tune, and modify parts across extensive combinations to build competitive setups tailored to different environments. Diverse Vehicle Disciplines: The game features distinctly tuned craft, ranging from lightweight Speeder Bikes and drifting Landspeeders to nimble Skim Speeders and ultra-fast, fragile Podracers. Legacy Podracing and Launch Window Alongside its narrative-driven single-player campaign, Star Wars: Galactic Racer includes traditional arcade modes and time trials. Classic podracing tracks such as Mos Espa make a return, allowing players to pilot legacy racers including Sebulba, Gasgano, and Ben Quadinaros outside of the main storyline. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is scheduled to launch worldwide on October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2g95FIBP04
