Steel Mantis has confirmed that Slain 2: The Beast Within will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series alongside PC, with Sony's console receiving a physical boxed release. Following their heavy metal action titles Slain: Back from Hell and Valfaris, developer Steel Mantis is preparing to return with Slain 2: The Beast Within. Previously announced only for PC, the developer has confirmed that the game will also release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Sony's console will additionally receive a physical boxed edition. Blood, Metal, and Werewolf Transformations Staying faithful to the audiovisual style established in the first game, this sequel continues the lore of Bathoryn, a sentient blade passed from warrior to warrior to hunt the demonic hordes of Lord Vroll. Players assume the role of Prince Akran, the last representative of the Wolf Knights, embarking on a desperate crusade across ruined lands. Gameplay preserves the demanding 2D action-platforming formula of the original, incorporating precise parries, counter-attacks, and elemental sword powers such as fire and ice. The primary new feature centers on Akran's transformation mechanics. Under the light of the full moon, the protagonist unleashes his lycanthropic nature to attack enemies with claws and fangs amid heavy pixel-art gore. Campaign Structure and Availability The campaign is structured across three major quests to retrieve sacred relics—the Eye, the Heart, and the Dagger—guarded by witches and abyssal demons. The entire experience is framed in pixel art and set to a heavy metal soundtrack. The game is available to wishlist on Steam for PC players, with console releases confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series. No official release date has been announced yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahFAqXJ-4Ls
