Revealed at Gamescom 2026, Ubisoft Paris is taking Team Rainbow into the turn-based tactics realm with Rainbow Six Tactics, featuring 15 Siege operators, destructive combat, and synchronized breach planning. During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, Ubisoft revealed Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Tactics, an upcoming single-player turn-based strategy spin-off scheduled to launch in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by Ubisoft Paris—the studio behind Mario + Rabbids and Ghost Recon—the title trades fast-paced first-person gunplay for deliberate, grid-conscious tactical decision-making. Stepping into the Shoes of Six Set alongside the narrative timeline of Rainbow Six Siege, Rainbow Six Tactics places players directly in the role of Six, the supreme commander of Team Rainbow. Tasked with neutralizing an escalating global conspiracy, players manage the overarching organization from HQ before sending specialized strike teams into the field. The operational gameplay loop bridges strategic headquarters management with boots-on-the-ground tactical encounters. At base, players review intelligence, upgrade operational facilities, train roster personnel, and select mission deployments. Out in the field, players command four-operative strike teams drawn from a selection of 15 recognizable Siege operators, each equipped with signature abilities, specialized gadgets, and distinct progression skill trees. Destruction Meets Synchronized Breaching While the isometric grid and turn-based flow draw natural comparisons to titles like XCOM, Rainbow Six Tactics preserves the franchise's hallmark mechanics: reconnaissance and environmental destruction. Maps allow operators to destroy walls, manipulate sightlines, and eliminate enemy cover using explosive charges and specialized tools across more than 45 handcrafted locations worldwide. The signature mechanic setting the game apart is its Breach Planning system. Rather than resolving turn actions purely in isolation, Breach mode allows players to queue multiple tactical commands across all four squad members and trigger a simultaneous, coordinated room breach. This system translates the high-intensity room-clearing dynamics of Siege into a turn-based framework. Having worked on several Tom Clancy titles throughout my career, the opportunity to revisit the Rainbow Six franchise's tactical roots as Creative Director is a privilege. As long-time fans of tactical games, we've focused on building the kind of tactical experience we'd want to play ourselves, and we hope it resonates with as many players as possible. Missions, Challenge Modes, and Launch Plans Rainbow Six Tactics incorporates several classic mission archetypes familiar to series veterans, including: Hostage Rescue: Infiltrate secured compounds and extract high-value targets intact. Bomb Disposal: Secure hostile sectors and defuse planted ordnance under tactical pressure. Target Elimination: Hunt down high-priority threats guarded by varied enemy archetypes. For strategy purists seeking high stakes, the game will include optional permadeath settings and an Ironman mode. Rainbow Six Tactics is slated for release in 2027 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft Connect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoDIxvqQfxQ
