Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto revealed that Konami is aiming to release a new game in the horror franchise every year, backed by multiple unannounced projects. After years of dormancy, Konami has firmly brought Silent Hill back into the spotlight—and the publisher has no intention of slowing down. Speaking in an interview with GamesRadar+ at Gamescom, franchise producer Motoi Okamoto revealed that the company is targeting an annual release cadence for the survival horror property, supported by several secret projects currently in development. Our aim is to, hopefully, have an annual release of new games. We would like to let players know that we have more experiences coming up, and many types of games that, we believe, will be able to provide positive kinds of surprises for players waiting for this for the series. Stepping Outside the Foggy American Town A primary concern among fans regarding annual releases is the risk of franchise fatigue and repetitive storytelling. To counter this, Konami is moving away from keeping every entry confined to the foggy lakeside setting in Maine, opting instead to let external developers take the psychological horror formula across different cultures and environments. If we stay laser-focused on the same American setting, that would exhaust narrative possibilities, and also potentially cause fatigue for the playerbase. Okamoto emphasized that decentralized development allows partnered studios to mold the IP to their specific creative strengths, enabling varied storytelling, formats, and settings rather than relying on a single internal team. Multiple Unannounced Titles in the Pipeline Konami has maintained a steady stream of releases since reigniting the franchise, including the Silent Hill 2 remake and the 1960s Japan-set Silent Hill f, followed by the upcoming release of Silent Hill: Townfall. Beyond Bloober Team's confirmed remake of the original 1999 Silent Hill, Okamoto noted that several other projects are actively in development behind closed doors. There are still many projects that are still under the works and very unannounced titles. So obviously, we can't go into specifics. But there are still many projects that we are currently exploring and working on as we speak. By leveraging parallel development timelines across distinct partner teams, Konami hopes to maintain quality control while ensuring horror fans have something new to look forward to on a yearly basis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXLfSEipn7I
