A full decade after its predecessor, Bandai Namco is finally taking Time Patrollers forward in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. Here is everything revealed so far about its Age 1000 setting, revised combat, and character customization. A decade after the release of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Bandai Namco and developer Dimps are preparing to pass the torch to a proper sequel. Formally announced following teasers at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is slated to bring the franchise's arena-brawler and action-RPG formula to modern hardware in 2027. A New Horizon: Stepping into Age 1000 Rather than simply retreading the familiar time-travel corrections of Conton City and the core Dragon Ball Z timeline, Xenoverse 3 pushes the clock forward to the unexplored setting of Age 1000. Originally conceptualized with deep creative input and world foundations laid out by Akira Toriyama, this era introduces players to a futuristic, expansive West City. Instead of serving as standard Time Patrollers right out of the gate, players begin their journey as recruits within the Great Saiya Squad. The narrative focuses on exploring this futuristic landscape while unraveling new threats and interacting with both legendary figures from Dragon Ball history and original faces created specifically for the new era. Expanded Customization and Battle Styles Character creation has always been the cornerstone of the Xenoverse experience, and early previews highlight that player expression is receiving a substantial mechanical overhaul. In Xenoverse 3, the systems governing avatar abilities are becoming more distinct through bespoke character skill trees and selectable fighting styles. Selectable Battle Styles: Players can choose distinct fighting styles that actively change their avatar's base combo strings and attack animations. Character Souls and Skill Progression: Equipping Souls associated with iconic Dragon Ball heroes and villains unlocks dedicated skill trees containing signature moves and passive perks. Reworked Transformations: Super Saiyan forms and racial power-ups now feature unique management systems, including timers and distinct resource costs. Combat Evolution: Ki Breaks and Soul Assists Gameplay footage shows a revamped focus on Ki management and tactical offensive play. Combat systems have introduced dedicated Ki Drain-style techniques capable of completely depleting an opponent's meter. Triggering a Ki Break leaves foes susceptible to powerful cinematic finishers known as Break Smashes. Cooperative play has also been refined with four-player squad missions, designed to shift fluidly from mob encounters to multi-phase boss confrontations. Adding to the team dynamic is the new Soul Assist mechanic, which allows fighters to summon iconic Dragon Ball characters into the fray once a team assist meter is fully charged. Platforms and Release Window Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is officially scheduled for release in 2027 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. While pricing, specific launch editions, and an exact release date have yet to be finalized by Bandai Namco, the shift to current-gen platforms and a fresh narrative era marks a major evolution for the long-running franchise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WJ8irTIw7I
